This article guides you through the process of upgrading a Security Commander 1.8.5 database to version 1.9.1
Before you proceed
Go to Start-> All programs->UTC Fire & Security -> Security Commander->Database Maintenance
Select Backup, enter the sa password and browse to the location you want to save the backups for each of the Alliance databases to and select backup (Backup, History and Archive file are all required later)
Copy the Designs, Graphics and Images folders in C:\Program files\UTC Fire and Security\Security Commander
Un-install Security Commander 1.8.5
First un-install the API Directory Watcher, I04 Imaging patch & Photo ID if they are installed.
In the Windows Control Panel\Add remove programs:
Un-install Security Comander and select the options to remove CR9 and the database.
Select the option to remove Microsoft SQL Server 2005
-Select the tick-box to remove Microsft SQL Server components and the tickbox for the SPSQL instance to un-install
Restart the PC
Install Security Commander 1.9.x
Install Security Commander following the installation manual.
When complete you will be prompted to restart and select the option to create the database.
Restart and use the sa login and password to create the database. This will create an empty database.
Restore the 1.08.05 database
Right-click My Computer and select manage.
Under services and applications -> services and stop the Alliance8300 services.
Go to Start-> All programs->UTC Fire & Security
-Security Commander->Database Maintenance
Select Restore, enter the sa password and browse to the location of the backups made at the beginning and click the restore button.
Note:Backup, History and Archive file are all required for s sucessfull database migration.
You should get a message saying database backup successful.
Convert the database
Go to C:\Program files\UTC Fire & Security\Security Commander\DbScripts
Open the ConvertAlliance8300.exe
Enter the sa password
In the conversion directory field browse to the Security Commander folder in the installation disk.
Leave the update stored procedures ticked and select the Db Conversion017.00_181.xx folder then click convert database.
Exit the ConvertAlliance8300.exe
Repeat the steps again this time selecting the Db Conversion181.11_193.xx.
Replace the Images and Graphics folders in C:\Program files\UTC Fire & Security\Security Commander with the backups taken prior to the upgrade.
Run Security Commander, all the existing data should be successfully migrated.
